92 Year Old National Hero Hospitalized

There are concerns tonight for the health of Former Prime Minister and National Hero George Price.

The 92 year old Price fell this morning in his Pickstock Street home. He reportedly suffered an injury to his head and at a few minutes past ten this morning, he was rushed to the Belize Healthcare Partners hospital accompanied by his relative Winston Smiling.

According to a release from his family - and we quote: "Doctors determined that he needed surgery...he pulled through without any complications, and is resting."

The release adds that family and close friends have visited with him. They end by, quote "asking all Belizeans to say a short prayer for the father of the nation as he recovers."

Price was named National Hero in the year two thousand, 50 years after he founded the PUP at his family home - on September 29, 1950.

Due to failing health that preceded this injury, the Right Honorable Price had not been scheduled to be a part of tonight's Prime Minister's Forum at the Bliss Center which will feature the three other Belizean Prime Minister's: Manuel Esquivel, Said Musa and Dean Barrow.
