And while his family has lost a father and a brother, sadly tonight, Wayne Williams is just another statistic for the most dangerous stretch of road in the country.
According to our records he is the 13th person to die on that same stretch of road since 2003. 6 died in a massive collision in 2003 and 6 more died as the result of an accident there in 2010.
The jarring coincidence is that one of the most outstanding road safety signs is perched like a beacon less than a mile away.
But the highway in that area - though straight - is one of the slipperiest road surfaces on the highway.
It was raining last night and that could have been a factor.
