"Blessed are the peacemakers" - at least that's how it should be at this time of year, but on Saturday night in Dangriga, one such peacemaker was killed when he tried to part a knife fight between two teenagers.

21 year old Randy Vasquez was fatally stabbed in front of this concrete bus stop.
The incident took place on Saturday night - on Pen Road - in the Benguche area of Dangriga town.
The young man was stabbed once to the chest and died on the spot.
But, Vasquez wasn't the target; he was only trying to part a fight between two teenage boys- when he was stabbed unexpectedly.

"Actually his aunt came and then his brother starts to scream, that was how I got up. His brother said that Randy is dead. It's just frightening, I don't understand everything that happened but I heard that he was trying to part the fight when he got stab."
21 year old Vasquez lived with his common-law-wife of 5 years - just a couple blocks away from where he was killed.
That night he was walking along with a group of guys, passing the bus stop where another group of young men were sitting.
18 year old Jacob Lammey who was in the group Vasquez was walking along with, apparently had old beef with one of the guys - a 16 year old minor.
Lammey walked up to him - pushed the minor in his chest and then punched him.
Lambey and the 16 year old minor got into a fight - where Lambey then pulled out a knife and stabbed the 16 year old minor.
As Vasquez tried to intervene, he was stabbed in the mix of things - by the same knife belonging to his friend Lammey.

"Saturday sometime about 8:50pm we receive information about a stabbing incident by the Benguche area by the bus stop. Police responded where they saw the body of a male person later identified as Randy Vasquez 21 years old with a stab wound to the right side of his chest. He was pronounce dead by a medical practitioner who was close by. Police have conducted investigation during which was reveal more or less that there were a group of boys hanging out by the bus stop. One of the male person who was passing by approach one at the bus shed where they had a slight misunderstanding of a previous incident before. They had a struggle between both boys where Randy proceeded to where the two persons where. Somewhere along the line a knife was taken out by one of the guys where Randy got stab on the right side of his chest, he was fatally injured."
The 16 year old minor was stabbed to the left side of his abdomen. He is currently at the Southern Regional Hospital. He is detained by police and will be charged for murder upon his release.
