Man Caught With 24 Pounds Weed

Fifty three year old Godfrey Rowland, a laborer of 46 Neal Pen Road who the police report they busted with 11,930 grams of cannabis, which is about 24 pounds, was charged with drug trafficking when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court.

Rowland pleaded not guilty to the charge. Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith offered him cash bail of eight hundred dollars and adjourned his case until January 27, 2012.

Rowland was also charged with driving a vehicle without a valid driver's license, driving a vehicle not covered by third party insurance and displaying unauthorized license plates.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and he was offered a bail of one thousand dollars for each charge. The bust occurred 9:45 this morning.

The police reported that they intercepted a grey 1990 Toyota Corolla car at mile 4 on the Northern Highway and when they searched it they found the cannabis in the trunk. Rowland was the driver and the only occupant of the car at the time.
