Police have not provided much details on an alarming case of theft in the Cayo district.
It happened in San Ignacio Town where Juanita Yvette Teck reported that a large assortment of jewelry was stolen from her house.
How large? Try fifty-thousand dollars! It was stolen between Sunday and Monday of this week, and so far, police have made no arrests.
In other crime news A 19 year old will spend 7 years in Jail after he was today convicted of burglary. Carol Brooks told police that someone got into her home on Sunday and stole her laptop computer from the bedroom.
Police detained Eldon Myvett who took them to a pawnshop where they recovered it. He was charged for burglary and pleaded guilty today in court - even though he hid from the camera.
Myvett said he was aware he did wrong but he needed the money to care for his sick son.
Although it was his first conviction the magistrate could not impose a fine because there were no extenuating circumstances.
