Zimbab Gets Off Charge
posted (December 30, 2011)
Sometimes news is just a story - but on rare occasions, a news story becomes an event. That's what happened in late August when the Gang Suppression Unit descended on George Street in a brutal operation.

The outspoken and menacing interviews that the George Streets residents and affiliates gave 7news after that assault - shook society to its core, forced the PM to cut short an overseas trip, which led to the gang truce, and the rest, is history, still in the making. One of those who spoke out was Forty year old Carlos Abraham - known as Zimbab - who was charged with using Obscene Language. After the prosecution closed its case, Abraham's Attorney Kareem Musa submitted that Abraham does not have a case to answer because he was not cautioned by the police when he was detained.

In response, the prosecutor admitted that Police Constable Galvez did not caution Abraham. He said PC Galvez could not have cautioned Abraham because of his behavior.

Nonetheless, Magistrate Albert Hoare upheld the no case to answer submission and dismissed the charge.
