Police Got Back Gaylord's Stolen Stuff
posted (January 5, 2012)
Last night we reported a burglary that took place over the New Year's weekend at GAYLORD'S warehouse located at number 19 King Street - above the store.

The thieves took off with a huge volume of name brand items including more than a thousand pairs of Dickie's long and short pants, dozens of NIKE slippers and tennis shoes, and 50 packs of men's underwear.

They got in through a burglar bar door located at the front of the building. The owner of the store, told us he noticed what had happened only Tuesday morning, when they came to open up and believed that the thieves took the rainy weekend as an opportunity to break in.

It was a valuable heist, but some quick police investigative work led them to where the thieves had stored their loot, some 9 miles away in Ladyville.

Police Press Officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood told us this afternoon that most of the items have since been recovered.

Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer
"The owner of Gaylord's store reported that his warehouse was burglarize sometime between the 1st and the 3rd of January."

"Our burglary unit immediately was activated and they launched an investigation, they are saying that through investigation skills and intelligence gathering they search a resident in Ladyville Village yesterday the 4th of January where they recovered almost all the items that were reported stolen from that burglary."

Jim McFazdean
"Was this a private residence that was searched by the police, where the items were discovered?"

Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer
"One of the persons that they have detained, It's the residence of one of those person. We have three persons detained so far, one being a female and we are looking for two others, who we believe that were involve in this heist that took place over the weekend."

Jim McFadzean
"There was a mention that one of the suspects involve, might be a resident of King Street were Gaylord is located. Is there any truth to date? There is some truth to that. Actually we might have more than one who lives not too far where this heist actual took place."

Jim McFadzean
"And the police have established that it was during the rain storm that the burglary actually took place?"

Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer
"Well Jim the owner himself couldn't establish whether, the actual date that this took place, so we had to include into the report that it was sometime between the 1st and the 3rd of January."

So far all the items have been recovered, except for the footwear. Yearwood says Police have since detained a number of persons, including two females, one from Ladyville and one form King Street. Police are also looking for three men who they believe can assist them in their investigation.
