Constable Charged For Rape
posted (January 5, 2012)
A police constable who allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend, a mother of 3, was charged with 2 counts of rape and 1 count of escape from lawful custody when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court.

He is 28 year old Lincoln Lewis, a resident of Seine Bight. Lewis pleaded not guilty to escape. Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser did not take a plea for the other offences because they are indictable.

The prosecutor objected to bail on the ground that the complainant has indicated that since the incident she has been receiving threats from the defendant through text messages and telephone calls.

Lewis' attorney Sharon Robateau submitted that her client should be granted bail because he is presumed to be innocent. Senior Magistrate Fraser agreed and offered Lewis a bail of eight thousand dollars, which he met. His case was adjourned until February 16.
