"Fawda" Wants a CITCO Seat
posted (January 16, 2012)
Phillip "Fawda" Henry became a thorn in the City Council's side 13 months ago when he lashed out at the council as an aggrieved former employee.

And now, he's seeking the ultimate revenge: the Former UDP Campaigner and Street Captain wants to be a councilor himself. Henry is offering himself as a Citizen Candidate along with Steven Okeke, and today he told us about his plan:..

Phillip "Fawda" Henry
"I am going from house to house to meet with senior citizens, first in the day, all these elder mothers who are at home and don't have places to go. I sit with them and I try to explain to them about the problems in our city. They don't have the time to go in the streets to see the problems with all the holes and the drains that are clogged up, but they feel the pain along with their families."

"I am putting myself up as councilor candidate because I realize that crime is escalating, and nobody has an answer how to slow down crime. But by 'Fawda" going to school doing the "Right thing pedestrian program", I say that if I go in and offer myself as a councilor candidate I could make a difference at the Belize City Council."

"I will try to build myself up to whichever government remains in power to work along with them. And don't have to be back and forth with any fight with anyone, but to make Belize a better place to live in."

Jules Vasquez
"Why would I, as a voter, choose to vote for you when I know that whatever happens, best case scenario, you will be a minority on the council and they could very easily and effectively marginalize you, put you in a corner?"

Phillip "Fawda" Henry
"But Jules I would say the nation says what I have done. I am a loyal person, and a person who wants to see work done. You could remember that I was a member of the Belize City Council, and I spoke out against the council for the rights of the people of this city, and because I did so they choose to get rid of me."

"Jules, It sounds funny what I am going to say, but I hope the city residents sit in front of their TV and don't make noise. There are 30 million holes in the streets of Belize City. There are holes in the streets of Belize City for this generation, the next generation and the following generation to come. Who feels it knows it, Jules, you walk the streets daily. If you should go to the polls and give a X to anyone, the People's United Party or the United Democratic Party who have made manifestos, so much manifestos and they have failed all. Now you are telling that our Belizean people should go to the polls and choose yes for holes? God have mercy upon my nation."

Henry is the only councilor on the Okeke slate.
