BAHA Says "It's Not Our Truck"
posted (January 17, 2012)
Last night we reported on a traffic accident on the Western Highway at mile 38 in St Matthews's village. As we mentioned in the story, it involved a Belize Agricultural Health Authority pickup truck and a motorcycle.

Today BAHA called us to clarify that the truck did not belong to them nor was any of their employees involved with the accident.

Managing Director of BAHA, Mike Thomas - in a telephone interview with 7news - explained that the truck was indeed a BAHA truck, but was given to the Ministry of Agriculture 6 months ago - and the obligation of licensing the vehicle was passed on to the Ministry.

Mike Thomas, Managing Director of BAHA
"This truck does not belong to BAHA. Actually we donated 6 vehicles to Ministry of Agriculture a couple of months ago, and those trucks were donated on the basis of the request we received from the CEO, and the board approved it, and it was passed on to them."

"BAHA cancelled all the insurances and licenses because the Ministry is to take it over. After that, I instructed the BAHA technician to take off the stickers and remove all the BAHA logos."

"I called the mechanic, and he said that he removed all the stickers, but the imprint still stays on the trucks. The truck was driven by some of the Ministry drivers and employees, not BAHA. BAHA is not involved in this accident any at all."
