Whistleblower Cries Foul (In Advance)
posted (January 30, 2012)
On Friday, we told you how the Police Constable Amir Moh tried to extort Alexander Tate last week Thursday at a checkpoint in Ladyville. He recorded the serial number of the bills, and then handed them over. Immediately after that, he reported Moh to the police, who was then arrested and charged with extortion.

Well, that's not the end of the story, Tate came to our studios to tell us that he has heard whisperings that the police may be planning to plant incriminating items on him as a way of getting him back for exposing Moh.

We also asked him about the offense which Moh was accusing him of committing, which he claims is bogus.

Here's what he had to say about that ordeal:

Alexander Tate
"Word out on the street is that part of the police department or some persons within the police department have intentions to either plant drugs or ammunition on me due to this incident."

Daniel Ortiz
"You are alleging that the police has some intentions to get back at you for reporting PC Moh?"

Alexander Tate
"Somewhat."

Daniel Ortiz
"How credible is your information sir? How well placed is your source?"

Alexander Tate
"I have a lot of friends out here. People know me, and I have been with the Ministry of Health of the past 13 years, and people know me. I have been all over this country working. A couple of my friends came to me and told me to watch my back because they heard this and that."

"I don't do drugs. I smoke cigarettes and I drink my rum, and if they want to arrest me for drunk and disorderly, they have to come to house because that is where I drink."

Daniel Ortiz
"Tell us, what exactly was the traffic violation that Mr. Moh was accusing you of?"

Alexander Tate
"First of all there was no traffic violation."

Daniel Ortiz
"So you are saying the insurance claim that he is saying you violated is false?"

Alexander Tate
"I don't see where the law says if I am going to scrap a vehicle, and if I am going to get rid of a vehicle to take it to the scrap yard that I have to insure a vehicle. Why should I license and insure a vehicle that I am taking to the scrap yard?"

"The vehicle was being towed by the person that bought the vehicle from me. I was steering the vehicle that I had sold because the gentleman had ask to help him to steer the vehicle to Ladyville."

"The man purchased the vehicle from me, and so I don't have any problem with that. If I had known that it was an offence to tow the vehicle then I wouldn't have done it. If I had really known that I had committed that offence - what is $70 for being behind the wheel of a vehicle without insurance and license? It would have cost me more than $70 otherwise."

Daniel Ortiz
"What gave you the idea to record the number on the bills before handing them over to the officer?"

Alexander Tate
"First of all I know that this man was taking advantage of me, and I have a couple of friends within the department, and I made a phone call. I was instructed by a senior officer how to go about this situation. So I did so because at the end of the day, I might not be the only one that the officer has done it to."

"I work hard for my money, and for somebody to take $70 from me, that is nearly 3 days' work for me."

Tate said that he has no concrete evidence of this conspiracy, but he has come to media as a pro-active measure, in the event that he is pulled in by police on a quote, "trump-up charge" unquote.
