Allegedly Stole From A Judge's Wife
posted (January 30, 2012)
Today in Magistrate's Court 5, 37 year-old Mahogany Street resident, Celia Munnings, a bill collector for Central Cable Vision, was arraigned on the charge of burglary when she appeared before Magistrate Hettie May Stuart.

It is alleged that on December 9, 2011, she burglarized the business place of Hazel Lord, Justice Herbert Lord's wife, which is located at the corner of Regent and King Streets.

According to the police, she stole a white bag containing $200 worth of valuables, a pair of reading glasses which is worth $900 and $2,500 cash in Belize and US currencies, all to a total value of $4,185.

There were no objections to bail, and Munnings' attorney, Lionel Welch submitted that this matter is not a burglary per say. According to Welch, Munnings went to deliver a cable bill to the establishment, and soon after the items went missing, which is the only reason that she was suspected.

Since there was no objection, Magistrate Stuart granted Munnings bail of $5,000 plus two sureties, which she was able to meet this evening.
