23 year-old Shane Jones was chopped to the head while he was walking on a pathway that links Johnson Street with Magazine Road Belize City, next to the Matron Roberts Health Center.
The police report that he was approached by four of five men who used a machete to chop him across the head. Police report that he was admitted to a ward in a critical but stable condition - but he seems to have recovered quickly as the hospital had him set for release at noon today.
Police say they have detained 37 year old Dwight Terry of a Magazine Road address for questioning.
