Shifting Sands In The Lake
posted (February 16, 2012)
Like sands shifting in an earthquake, the political landscape is changing very quickly in Lake Independence. Just during this newscast, we've received reports that, with the difficulties being faced by candidate Yolanda Schakron, former PUP incumbent in Lake-I Carlos Diaz is back in play.

7news has received reports that Diaz has gone ahead to pay his two hundred dollar fee at the treasury in advance of tomorrow's nomination - which is the standard procedure for any candidate.

And while we stress that is only a report, just now we were called out to the western end of Mahogany street where "Diaz For Lake I Posters" had just been plastered to lamp-posts earlier this evening.

Diaz is a former Lake I representative for the PUP but retired from politics after he lost in 1993. But recently when Cordel Hyde stepped down, the PUP Lake I committee called for him to re-enter to fray - but he stepped back after the party indicated that Schakron was its choice.

And now, with the problems facing Schakron, it seems he is back in play. Whether he is going out on his own - or is being encouraged by the party is a question unanswered at this hour, but looking at those vintage signs, we'd say that right now he certainly looks like he's back in the race. We'll know for sure by tomorrow.
