Deranged Daughter Stabs 73 Year Old Mother
posted (March 13, 2012)
A 73 year old woman is recovering from stab wounds inflicted by her own daughter- even after 3 people tried to restrain her. On Friday, what started as a quiet lunch in Orange Walk Town turned very ugly.

73 year old Martha Carlos was at home on Zericote Street when two of her daughters and an employee entered the house around noon. As they were preparing to eat, Carlos' 48 year old daughter retrieved a knife from the kitchen and attempted to stab her mother. Her sister knocked the knife out of her hand, but that did not deter the determined daughter who went for another knife, pushing her mother into a room next to kitchen. The three women tried to restrain her, but they were unsuccessful, and the 73 year old woman, who is diabetic, has hypertension and recently survived a stroke, took another blow to her health.

The daughter stabbed her mother twice in the forehead and once in the upper arm before the older woman escaped upstairs. She locked herself in her room, calling for help until a neighbor climbed to the second floor and saved her. The mother was treated at the Northern Regional Hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering at home. The daughter fled the scene but was later arrested. Still, she is not expected to be charged, and her mother has forgiven her. The 48 year old woman has been admitted at the Northern Regional Hospital, however, where she is currently receiving treatment.
