Acquitted of Rape
posted (March 22, 2012)
Ephraim Hendy, the man charged with the August 2009 rape of a 28 year-old woman was acquitted today in the court room of Justice Adolph Lucas, and allowed to walk out a free man.

This morning, Hendy got the good news that the charges of rape and use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause grievous harm were being withdrawn by the prosecution at the request of the victim.

In the woman's initial statement, she told police that on August 30, 2009, at about 11:00 p.m., Hendy entered her house without invitation, but he was someone she knew for two years prior to the incident.

According to the woman, she tried to put him out twice, but he refused to leave. Four hours later, Hendy allegedly grabbed her around the neck and began to choke her, and that's when he allegedly raped her.

After that, he allegedly stabbed her once to the abdomen area, then he left her there to die. Fortunately, there were neighbors who got concerned about the noises they heard. They intervened and rushed her to the hospital.

It was noted in court today that the reason why the woman did not want to proceed had nothing to do with any form of intimidation from the accused. She told police that she was never threatened by Hendy in any way, but she simply did not want to relive the events of that horrific night. Hendy had no legal representation today.
