Man Accused Of False Imprisonment Rebuts Claim
posted (April 16, 2012)
On Friday night you saw Mike Smith detail a remarkable of being detained, abducted, and beaten up by a pretend police with a "play-play" badge.

He told the cops that the man flashed a badge, put a gun to his head, took him to a home in Port Loyola and then beat and questioned him.

He told police that the man responsible for this roguish act is Reginald Wagner. Well - that's the name on the police report - but today we spoke to Reginald Young who says that he is the man being implicated.

Except, that he says he did not do what he is being accused of - but, he did do something - and it was all because of a stolen Samsung cell phone:..

Reginald Young
"This is the reason why I don't know why he went on the news and said that I abducted him or whatever he said."

Jules Vasquez
"Did you abduct him? Did you put a gun to his head?"

Reginald Young
"No I did not."

Jules Vasquez
"So he just invented this out of thin air?"

Reginald Young
"Yes."

Jules Vasquez
"It's a very serious allegation against you."

Reginald Young
"I know. Right now currently CIB are looking for him. He is a wanted person."

Jules Vasquez
"He said that you impersonated a police officer, showed him a bogus police badge...."

Reginald Young
"I did no such thing."

Jules Vasquez
"Have you had any interaction with this person? Since some theft of a phone is involved, have you threatened this person? Have you told him to return what he has stolen?"

Reginald Young
"I wouldn't lie; I hit the person and beat him up until he told where the phone was. The phone is not my phone; it's my friend's phone, and so I had to call my friend and let him come with his papers so he can get back his phone."

Jules Vasquez
"He just blew that event out of proportion you are saying."

Reginald Young
"Yes that's what he did."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, you do work with the police?"

Reginald Young
"Yes, as a police mechanic."

Jules Vasquez
"So then it wasn't any problem for them to find you. You weren't being sought. You weren't a fugitive; nothing like that?"

Reginald Young
"No. This is what is funny about it."

Jules Vasquez
"That you work with the police. But the way the news went out Friday was like they are looking for you and that you are hiding out."

Reginald Young
"The way they put it is like I am Bin Laden; hiding under a rock or something like that."

We could not confirm if Mike Smith is indeed wanted as Young claims.
