posted (April 18, 2012)
A 19 year-old man is spending the first night of a 13 year sentence after he was convicted in Magistrate's Court today - and to add to that, his mother, his bother and three friends are also in jail on remand!

Kent Lynch pleaded guilty to 5 firearm-related charges in court, after police found a major stash of guns yesterday.

Police searched a Peter Seco Street address and found one .410 gauge double barrel shotgun, one single action 16 gauge shotgun and two 16 gauge cartridges. They arrested everybody inside the house including 23 year old Errol Lynch, 19 year old Kent Lynch, 25 year old Leroy Gomez, 27 year old Woodrow Reyes and 21 year old Virginie Alvarez.

Today, they were all brought before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and jointly charged with 2 counts of handling stolen goods, 2 counts of keeping an unlicensed firearm, and 1 count of keeping unlicensed ammunition.

According to the police, one of the guns was stolen. Armead Logan Thurton reported to them that on Monday, his warehouse at Baker's Ranch on the Old Northern Highway was burglarized. Thurton said that his black Winchester Brand 410 gauge double barrel shot gun and a lawn mower were stolen.

Police found the lawnmower and the shotgun at the Peter Seco address plus the additional 16-gauge shotgun and cartridges.

Kent Lynch pleaded guilty to all the charges, and when Senior Magistrate Frazer asked him to explain why; he gave several reasons. He said that he paid $1,500 for all the items which he says he bought from an unknown person along the Old Northern Highway.

He also said that he bought the two guns because he fears for his life. According to Kent Lynch, the infamous - but now deceased - Edward Lord was his neighbor, and as a result, people considered him Lord's right-hand man, which force him to buy the guns specifically for protection.

Senior Magistrate Frazer accepted his guilty plea, and as a result, she was forced to give him a tough sentence. Although he has no previous convictions, Kent Lynch will spend 13 years and 6 months in prison.

After Senior Magistrate Frazer handed down the sentence, the prosecutor informed the court that case against the other 4 accused persons will not be dismissed.

Due to the nature of the offenses, the Senior Magistrate could not offer them bail, and as a result, they were remanded to prison until May 17, their next court date.

This afternoon, 52 year-old Yvette Lynch, mother of the Lynch Brothers, was arraigned before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart. She was charged with the same 5 offenses, and she was remanded to prison until May 17 also.

It is important to note that she was not present at the time of the search, but because it is her house, she has also been charged.
