OCEANA Takes GOB To Court Over Referendum
posted (May 7, 2012)
The last time we heard from OCEANA was a week before the election - when the Conservation watchdog announced the quite remarkable turnout of its do-it-yourself referendum.

Well, since then, The Barrow Administration has agreed to hold a referendum at some unfixed date in the future. But, OCEANA is not waiting around. On Friday it filed suit against the Government of Belize challenging the disqualification of 8,042 signatures of persons who had signed a petition triggering a referendum. That is almost half the signatures collected.

No date for a hearing has been set.
