His family says it was the murderous wrath of a woman spurned, she says it was ad dispute over rent money. We went to Dangriga to find out more:...

37 Year Old Donovan Castillo, a BDF Corporal was lying here in this bed - at his family home on Teacher Street in Dangriga Town when he was stabbed multiple times - twice to his neck, to the shoulder, and sliced across the temple.

He made it to the couch and bled out right there - the family has since burnt the blood-drenched couch. The alleged culprit is his 37 year old girlfriend. She was visiting from Belize City over the weekend - and they are reported to have had an argument early Monday morning on this verandah.

A nephew who sleeps in this room heard them arguing - and then someone locked his room shut.

After that he heard silence, and later heard the front door slam. He had to climb through the roof to get out of the room. When he did he found his Uncle bleeding profusely on the couch from a gaping wound in his neck.

Police caught the female shortly after and she confessed to doing it - she says it was because of a dispute over rent money for a home in the city.

His family says it was murder by an obsessed lover, simple and plan.

"I never knew that there are women like that - those kinds of women are crazy. Just because the man told her that he didn't want to be in this relationship, just because of that."

"I understand she is saying that it's because of rent money that she need for her house in the city and that he didn't want to help with the money and the fight started from that."

"There was no fight because the man was sleeping. She can't beat him while he was awake. She couldn't have done that. The man got 4 stab wounds in his sleep. Even of the man has rent money for her that still not equivalent to murder."

Her friends say that she had been abused - and indeed she did have bruises - and a doctor classified her injuries as harm.

But, there's no satisfying this family who knew her as possessive and jealous:

The investigators file is now with the DPP - who will make a decision on whether there really is a case to establish that. Marsha Reid remains in custody pending a directive from the DPP on what charges should be brought.

Corporal Castillo had just returned from a course in the US where he received instruction in outboard engine maintenance. Of note is that CASTILLO's niece Sheleen Martinez was also savagely stabbed to death in Dangriga in November of 2010.
