Lords Bank Burglars Get No Bail
posted (June 4, 2012)
34 year-old John Leslie, 19 year-old Samuel Halliday, and 20 year-old Gregory Myvette are all at prison tonight after they were taken to Magistrate's Court this morning for burglary.

According to police, Zoyla Swazo, reported that her house in Lords Bank was cleaned out. Among the items stolen from her were a 32-inch flat screen TV, a 19-inch flat screen TV, a pair red and black Jordan brand tennis shoes, and other items to a total value of $4,374.

The next day, police investigation led them to Myvette's Zericote Street home, where the officers recovered a stolen hand bag, a flat iron, the Jordan tennis shoes, and several of the watches.

They were also able to track down and link the 32-inch flat screen TV to Myvette also. Police continued to their work, and they were also able to discover the location of the 19-inch TV, which they eventually linked to Halliday.

As a result, police arrested and charged Leslie, Halliday, and Myvette with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. They also charged Myvette and his mother, 41 year-old Ava Puge, with handling stolen goods, and both Halliday and Myvette were also charged with separate counts of handling stolen goods.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the prosecution objected to bail for the 3 men on several grounds. According the prosecutor, one of the 3 men gave a caution statement in which he admitted to the burglary and named the other 2 as accomplices, which speaks to the strength of the prosecution's case.

He also told the court that if granted bail the men could interfere with the case by trying to dispose of the other items which have not yet been recovered, and they may also try to interfere with the complainant since they all know each other.

Based on the objections, Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer remanded all 3 men, but granted bail Puge bail of $2,500. They are to return to court on July 5, their next court date.
