Family of Stevens Brothers: There Was No Rape
posted (June 14, 2012)
Last night, 7News told you about 23 year-old Jermaine Stevens and his 29 year-old brother, Austin, who were arraigned for rape in Magistrates Court and remanded to prison.

As we reported, a Belize City woman reported to police that on March 20, 2012, at about 12:30 p.m., she went to the Stevens' Jane Usher Boulevard home to look for a friend.

According to the woman, while she was there, she went to use the bathroom, and when she came out, she was confronted by both brothers. Jermaine and Austin Stevens allegedly grabbed her, and placed her on a bed where Jermaine Stevens allegedly raped her while Austin Stevens watched.

Jermaine Stevens was charged with rape, while his brother Austin was charged with abetment to commit rape.

But today, we caught up with the mother of the Stevens brothers, and she told us that this woman has fabricated this entire story from start to finish.

Here's how she explained the situation:

Voice of: Sandra Pollard, Mother of Accused Brothers
"Since this thing happened going on now to 3 months, she was in there going for 2 months with my son and my niece because it was my niece who brought her in to live with her, because she say that they were chased from Faber's Road and she didn't have anywhere to stay."

"So she (niece) took her in with them and then she turned around and says that they rape her. Nobody didn't rape her, she was right here. Jermaine girlfriend was right here. Jermaine is not that type of man, neither of them are, they have enough women and don't need to have to rape anyone,"

Daniel Ortiz
"This woman came to live here at this house."

Voice of: Sandra Pollard, Mother of Accused Brothers
"We didn't even know her, my niece brought her here to live because she had been living through Faber's Road but she was put out because she says that the man who owns the house wanted to rape her. We didn't know her, I know my niece. We had her staying here because only my son was living here, he and his girlfriend were separated for two weeks but she came back with her two kids."

"She knew what she was up to; she came to look for him. Nobody didn't rape her; she knew what she was coming for. People live right here, Jermaine girlfriend was right outside here. If you say that somebody raped you, you see how close the rooms are. She says that 3 men rape her, they only hold my two sons, why they didn't hold the three."

"If three persons rape you, you would have heard noises and you would see things on the bed sheet, but nothing is there. I know that they didn't rape her, so they charge them and sent them to prison. We are going through a lot right now because then we have to get a lawyer. We have to see what we can do."

The Stevens brothers will remain in prison until their next court date, which is scheduled for July 25.
