City Home Invasion Was A Terror
posted (September 18, 2012)
A few minutes before 3 p.m. this evening, a woman residing at #38 Logwood Street became the victim of a frightening home invasion, while she was waiting for her children to come home from school.

She spoke to us this evening and she described the incident, in which she claims that 7 men - all armed with high-powered weapons, and with stockings over their faces - ran up into her yard and raided her house of all the valuables they could find.

When we confronted her with the information we got that these assailants were probably looking for drugs, she flatly denied that saying that she works hard for everything that her family owns.

Here's what how she described the terrifying incident:

Voice of: Home Invasion Victim
"I was on the verandah doing laundry, and I came out to take out the last load, and by the time I looked to the back of the yard, 7 men with guns - the double barrel guns, and short guns - I couldn't do anything. So, as they entered on the verandah, I told them that nothing was happening with me. I told them to take what they wanted. They took me into the house, and one of them told me to hand over my chain. I told them that it was in the bag. That guy took it out and put it in his pocket, and he ordered me to take him into my room. He dug up the room, and he looked into a box where some jewelry was. I told him that they were all fakes. He continued to dig up my room some more. One of them was in my son's room, and they rest were in the living room searching. 2 of them stayed on the verandah. They took what I had in my purse: my passport, my credit union book, 4 gold chains - they took cell phones, and a lot of other things. I don't even know what is missing right now because I am still shaken up and confused. But they didn't hit me. They just got wrong information because nothing is happen at this yard. They just listened to allegations."

"These men were masked?"

Voice of: Home Invasion Victim
"All of them had stockings on their heads."

"Ma'am, let's talk a little bit about that information. I was just standing on the street, and a random individual walked up to me and said that they believe is drug-related. They believe that the men came here searching for some sort of drug cargo. Would you be able to speak to that?"

Voice of: Home Invasion Victim
"Well, to be honest, that's the rumors on the street, but if drugs were here, believe me, police would have already known about it, and they would have already conducted a raid operation. No drugs are in this house, so, if they are saying that drugs are in here, I don't know where it is. I work hard for what I own. I owe the Credit Union right now, and whatever I have is what I worked and sweat for."

Daniel Ortiz
"So, it's a good thing that none of your family members were here and no one go hurt right?"

Voice of: Home Invasion Victim
"That's the best part about it because none of my children were here. I am just thankful that it was only me who experienced it because I guess that it would have been worse if anyone else was here. So, I am glad it happened like this."

Other residents spoke us saying that they only saw 4 men going toward the house, and they believe that it is possible that the other men arrived at the front.

After the police arrived and did their preliminary sweep of the location for evidence, they detained a man, who they believe was acting suspiciously around the scene of the incident.

It is expected that he will be questioned in relation to this attack on the home.
