Home Invaders In Hattieville
posted (October 22, 2012)
A single mother and her 4 children became victims of a home invasion last night in Hattieville Village. Just before 9 last night, 3 armed men barged into the home of Ann Pou.

It happened in a quiet neighborhood that Pou and her children have lived in for many years. Today in an off camera interview with 7news, she recalled last night's terrifying episode.

Voice of: Ann Pou
"I was in my bed laying down watching TV and talking to one of my girlfriends over the phone when I heard one of my daughters screaming out here. When I heard her screaming I told my girlfriend to hold. I heard my other daughter saying 'mom, gunman' and I threw down the phone and ran out my room because I heard their door slam. When I ran out of my room to come into the living room, I see a man with a gun in his hand pointing at me, I ran back into my room and I text my girlfriend saying to please call the police for me. I call 911 up here but I couldn't get anyone. At that time my other daughter was already on the phone with the police. I tried to call the police from Belize City."

"What happen is that I was in my room and I heard my daughter (she was out here laying down watching TV on the sofa with my baby and a young boy in the house drawing). What happen is that somebody yelled for me outside, he got up and look through the door, but he saw someone standing on the street - he puts on the lights and open the door. As soon as he opens the door the two guys came in and one pull a gun and crank it and put it at his head - he ran into my bathroom. He says up to now he doesn't know how he reaches on top of the closet."

"My daughter was screaming in the chair - the man came and put the gun in her chest and told her that if she screams he will shoot her, so she shuts up. At that time he leaves her and that's the time I came out because he was going in the room. I thought that everybody got into the room - I didn't know, so when I ran come back out because I conscious since my kids are out here they already went. My older daughter was in her room and she came out and saw the young man standing up there with the gun and she saw the other one in the kitchen area."

"She told me that she recognizes him. I call the police, they say they were coming but they didn't come. We found out that the police mobile was at prison. We sat down here, my family came and we talked, we got information stating that we figure more or less who were involved. I call the corporal and I explain to him, he says that he will have someone pick up the person. I was at the station about an hour and I ask the officer if he told the rest of officers from the mobile what had happen. I ask him if he ask them to pick up the young man. At the same time the officers from the mobile came in and I ask them about the young man - they say which young man, I ask if the corporal didn't give them the information that I gave him and as I give the police the information - they went and pick up the young man. But it so happen that he (young man) didn't know about it but he knew who was involved in it. They police had already known who was involved in the robbery. The police say they are looking for the young man from last night but they can't find him."

"The young man is someone from the village. I have dogs, they rush at people, the dogs knew him so they stop rush because they know the person. That was what transpired. I don't know about the police, they are here to do their jobs. They only have one mobile; they took so long to reach here. I gave them information but they are not doing anything about it."

"They sent with two cellphones and Sony headphone. They opened the drawer for the entertainment center - I am not sure what they from in there, I didn't look. I can't say why they target us because I don't have any money and if I have any money, it would not be in my house. If it is money that they came for they can't get it because no money is in my house, I don't have any money."

We understand that Hattieville police are looking for one person in connection with the home invasion. He is believed to be a resident of the village.
