It happened in the area of Coney and Princess Margaret Drives, spilling into West Landivar - the intersection of six schools.

The entire terrifying event was triggered by a broad daylight robbery - which happened just before 2 p.m.

3 armed men barged into Moon Grocery on Coney Drive and robbed the shopkeeper of an undisclosed amount of money.

7news captured security camera footage which showed the men casually walked in without masks - and then one of them put a gun to the shopkeeper's face. The footage next shows them running from the scene.

Several police officers responded and set chase after the men, detaining one of them very quickly. He was being transported in the pan of a police mobile, and the robber, in an attempt to escape, pushed the guarding officer out of the moving vehicle. This officer fell into the drain at the Corner of Coney and Princess Margaret Drives.

This robber took advantage of the mayhem he created and jumped out of the pan of the police mobile. He ran into the parking lot of D's Diner trying to flee, and according to reports from multiple sources, police fired shots after this man, in the vicinity of the patrons of the establishment and the Belize Elementary School, Belize High School and Nazarene High.

This robber was eventually detained and secured by those officers, and the injured police man, who was pushed from the vehicle, was transported to the KHMH. He is being treated for head injuries he sustained from the fall.

Meanwhile, other responding police mobiles chased the other 2 armed robbers where, according to reports to 7News, an exchange of gunfire occurred in the vicinity of the Belize Healthcare Partners Hospital.

Those robbersmade it all the way to the UB Campus on University Drive, where they fled onto the university's compound. The determined police officers eventually detained both of those men in the swamp behind the campus.
