posted (October 29, 2012)
On Friday's newscast, 7News told you about the 3 men who robbed Moon Grocery store on Coney Drive and caused the dangerous incident on Belize City's Northside. Well, police have charged 2 persons in connection with that robbery. They are 19 year-old Lloyd Parchue and a 15 year-old minor.

According to police, the owner of the establishment reported that at around 1:40 p.m. on last week Friday, she was inside her business place along with her daughter, when 2 dark complexioned men and a fair complexioned man entered.

The owner said that one of the men pulled out a firearm and pointed it at her, while one of the other men emptied her cash register of $2,400 in cash, and robbed her and her daughter of a smart flip phone and a $1,500 IPhone 4.

Quick police response led to chase of all 3 of the men from the scene of robbery, and while on Sun Dial Avenue, the armed assailant opened fire on the mobile.

The men fled unto the UB campus, and an hour and a half later, police allegedly detained Parchue and the 15 year-old minor in the mangrove swamp. Police also say that they recovered one 9mm expended shell, a black warm hat, and a camouflage bag which contained $344 dollars and 95 cents in different denominations.

Both men were charged with robbery, and Parchue was additionally charged with 2 counts of attempted murder which he allegedly committed against Corporal Renald Bruhier and Police Constable Emilio Ack. They were taken and arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer today, where Parchue claimed that he was beaten by police, and that he was in pain.

Due to the nature of the offences, no plea was taken and bail was denied. Senior Magistrate Frazer ordered that Parchue be taken to the KHMH, before being sent to prison; the 15 year-old was also remanded to the Youth Hostel.

They are to be brought back to court on December 17.
