Sandy's Sweep Was Scary
posted (October 30, 2012)
Hurricane Sandy is being called one of the worst storms in memory after slamming the east coast of the United States last night. The storm killed at least 40 people in the US, 18 of them in New York City.

Officials said it was impossible to measure the destruction Sandy left behind. The Reuters News Agency quotes one disaster modeling company which said on Tuesday that Sandy may have caused up to $15 billion in insured losses.

Now, all that is in addition to 67 deaths the same Sandy caused in the Caribbean last week. The storm ripped through Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas.

The preliminary damage estimate from Jamaica is just in; it is 55 million US dollars.
