posted (November 5, 2012)
58 year-old Henry Hulse, a resident of Barrack Road, is spending the first night of a 3 ½ year sentence, after he was convicted of stealing three packs of cheese in Magistrate's Court today.

According to police, at around 10:20 a.m. yesterday, Hulse was seen inside Save U Supermarket, and he was caught shoplifting 3 packs of Cracker Barrel cheese, which amounted to a total value of $27 dollars.

And after he walked out of the store without paying, the security guard detained him, searched him, and found the cheese in his pocket.

The security guard called the police, who arrested Hulse, and charged him with theft. He pleaded guilty to the charge when he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer today, and he explained that he stole the cheese because he was hungry.

As a result, he was sentenced to spend 18 months in prison, but it was discovered that he owed the court, for which he must now spend 2 years because he defaulted on payment.

Both sentences are to run consecutively, and as a result, he will spend a total of 3 years and 6 months in jail.
