There was also a killing in Belize City on Saturday night.
One man was murdered in the Port Loyola Area - and his friend was shot.
Monica Bodden found out more about this murder - the first in the city after a nine day break in homicides:..

32 year old Kevin Gentle was gunned down just before seven on Saturday night.
It happened on Curl Thompson Street - inside the yard of his neighbor Arden Robinson.

"Initial investigations revealed that Gentle was socializing along with Arden Alex Robinson at Robinson's yard when an unknown male person arrive and fired several shots at both persons causing the fatal injuries to Gentle and injuring Robinson. Both men were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where Kevin Gentle was pronounced dead at 7:15pm and Robinson admitted in a stable condition."
"Police have since retrieve one slug and a grey warm cap from the scene and are looking for a Belize City man for questioning."
With Gentle's multiple gunshots, he was pronounced dead only 15 minutes after he was shot.
His brother told us how he got the news.

"I got a phone call that he got shot. I came to the hospital think that it was just a normal thing that happened."
Gentle was shot a total of 5 times; once to the left side of his temple, once to the right side of his neck, his right shoulder and to the back of his head. And even though police are looking for one man for questioning, it is still unclear why someone would want to take his life.

"It wasn't exactly at his yard that he got shot, it was about two houses from where he lived next door."

"They were friends hanging out?"

"According to what I heard I don't really know but they were playing dominoes in the yard or that he was recreating one way or the other. I came here Saturday and saw him on a hospital bed, probably about 5-6 bullet holes in his body; one in his head and the rest in his back - like somebody just decide that they will end his life now."

"The police are saying that they believe that it was a case of mistaken identity and I notice in the area there are no light posts."

"In the area that he lives, there are no light, I don't know how people live back there, but back there us cruel - I mean that back there is really dark. I don't know what to say about that situation."

"I don't know what misunderstanding he and somebody has - to want to end his life so brutal - to end his life in that kind of way."
Gentle was the father of two children.
