Police Get Guns + Ganja
posted (December 13, 2012)
In the Police Department, it should be numbers that matter, but appearances count for a whole lot too, and that's probably why, lately, the Special Branch has stepped up its public relations game to prove that when it comes to high value seizures, they're even more efficient than the GSU.

On Saturday afternoon, Special Branch intelligence led to an open lot at the corner of Oleander street and Rose Lane which turned up half a pound of cannabis.

And then yesterday morning, at 6:30 the Special Branch led Police to the Ebony street residence of 33 year old Darren RAMIREZ, who was at home with 49 year old and 25 year old Edmond WILLIAMS. Police found two live .38 rounds of ammunition - which is enough for a charge of "Kept Ammunition Without a Gun License."

And then yesterday afternoon, the Special Branch led police to 46 year old Delroy CHAMBERS, a furniture maker of Police Street Extension.

His zone was hot! Police found 1.5 kilos or 3.3 pounds of weed and one 9mm Pistol with 9 live rounds of ammunition. CHAMBERS was charged for "Kept Unlicensed Firearm, "Kept Ammunition Without a Gun License and Drug Trafficking.

Outmatched on this day, but not to be completely out-done, this morning at 11:30, the GSU searched an abandoned property on Nurse Findley Crescent. They found a garbage bag leaned up against a zinc fence. Inside the bag, the officers found 17 smaller black plastic bags containing a total of 1.99 kilos of cannabis - about 4 pounds. The GSU reports that this property is adjacent to a reputed drug peddler's residence on that street.
