55 year-old Winston Dennison is at prison tonight awaiting sentence after he was convicted of 3 counts of carnal knowledge yesterday in the courtroom of Justice Troadio Gonzalez.
In the trial, Crown Counsel Thalia Meagan Francis called 6 witnesses, but the main witness was his 15 year-old victim. She testified that Dennison had intercourse with her three times. According to this minor, Dennison had been pursuing her for a length of time professing his love for her, and she finally gave in.
In his defense, Dennison initially chose to remain silent, but he then changed his mind and emphatically protested his innocence in a statement from the dock.
After deliberating for almost 3 and a half hours, a jury of 9 returned with guilty verdicts on all 3 counts.
Justice Gonzalez has deferred sentencing until Friday, where he will be able to make a mitigation plea.
In January 2000, Dennison was convicted of manslaughter, and he spent 10 years in prison for it. He was released on parol in 2010, a few months before this allegation of carnal knowledge was brought against him.
