Drama At Magistrate's Court With Pam And Horse
posted (December 27, 2012)
There was major drama which unfolded at Belize City Magistrate's Court after some well-known personalities of the Southside Gangsters were arraigned in connection with murder about an hour before news time.

On Monday, 7News told you about 23 year-old Cassian Bennette, a reputed personality from SSG who was arraigned and remanded for the murder of 19 year-old Raheem Requena, who was gunned down on Kuth Avenue on December 19.

Well today, 30 year-old Jermaine "Horse" Garnett, a reputedly well-known figure in SSG and Kenneth Barrow were arraigned before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart for the very same murder of Requena.

They were remanded to prison January 30, 2013. But the case is getting more tangled because 42 year-old Pamela Garnett, the wife of Jermaine Garnett, along with her son, 24 year-old Mark Vernon, aka Mark Gentle, were arraigned before Magistrate Stuart for attempting to suppress evidence.

According to police, on December 23, Vernon approached a major witness and threatened the person to withdraw any evidence that he or she gave to police. Police also say that on that date, Pamela Garnett attempted to pay this witness to withdraw evidence. The witnesses immediately reported the incident to police, and they arrested and charged Vernon and Pamela Garnett in connection with it. According to police, while Garnett was in custody, 26 year-old Special Constable Lisa Cayetano allegedly attempted to get Garnett out of detention, but she was caught in the act.

As a result, she was charged with aiding in the escape of a detainee, and she was also arraigned today before Magistrate Adolph Lucas. She was offered bail of $2,000 which she was able to meet. She must return to court on February 8.

But the drama escalated when the persons were to be taken from court to prison. When Pamela Garnett was being taken out, she fainted reportedly from a heart condition. This sent her family members and supporters in a frenzy, and they demanded the authorities get her to the KHMH immediately. An ambulance was quickly called in, which transported her in a stretcher to the hospital.

These same supporters made sure to voice their disapproval of the media being present very loudly. They even issued threats against camera men and reporters, pulling a rock and bottle to do them bodily harm.

It's a regular occurrence where camera men and media people are threatened for doing their job, but these supporters definitely took it to the next level.
