Deputy Com Pol Maintains Police Non-Affiliation With George Street Mass Murder
posted (January 11, 2013)
At the Prime Minister's Press Conference on Tuesday, PM Barrow confirmed that a special proclamation is going to be made to seal off Zone 4 -which includes the domain of the George Street Gang. Well tonight those three blocks from Dean and West Canal to Dean and West Street remain cordoned off and smothered by a heavy police presence - but the proclamation which would have enabled security forces to lock down the winder Zone 4 has not yet been activated.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Elodio Aragon, they are waiting to see if the proclamation will come about - but in the meantime the police department continues to post both vehicles and foot patrols in these areas to ensued things remain in order.

Elodio Aragon Jr., Deputy Comissioner of Police
"At this point in time nothing official has been released as far as I know and therefore notwithstanding that we do continue to mount foot and vehicles patrols checkpoints etc. within the area. That's to ensure that we keep things at bay and thus far that is working and we will wait and see what comes if the proclamation does come or not."

"I think the security on the ground have full command and control of the area and if it is not needed then why will we engage in it, so at this point in time looking at what we have on the ground I am satisfied that the police and security forces have things under control."

"I think it's only one street that a barrier was put but that has to do with our operational capacity in regards to the fact that we are operating from the Mesop Police Station and that road is very narrow and the amount of vehicles coming in and out we decided just to keep that road a one way street basically or just for the use of the police at this point in time."

Aragon also gave an update on the slaying of the 4 George Street men -whose bodies were discovered on Tuesday morning. The four men identified as 40 year old Keino Quallo, 30 year old Leonard "Ghost" Meyers , 19 year old Albert "Long John" Fuentes and 28 year old Anthony Perez were found viciously stabbed to death inside their apartment building corner's Dean and Plues Streets.

According to Aragon the investigating team working on these murders is currently looking at the Post Mortem results. He also denied the speculations going around accusing police officers -specifically the GSU -of any involvement in the mass murder of these George Street men.

Elodio Aragon Jr., Deputy Comissioner of Police
"Yesterday the 4 post mortems were done. At this point in time the investigating team is looking at that and I think yesterday they also revisited the scene and that is all part of the investigation and as soon as we get an update on this investigation or any new developments we'll let you all know. I will tell you right here right now that the police department in no way involve in any kind of these acts that is speculated out there by the public. There is no reason why the police would have done something like this, so I want to dispel that kind of thinking and I ask the general public to think about it - what does the police have to gain from doing things like these? We would never engage in these kinds of acts. The police department is a professional organization and yes we do have our issues, our management issues etc. but definitely the police department is looking at the bigger picture of these things and our work - we have work with these people and deal with these people day and day out. The police department is professional and I want the public to really sit down and think about it - what does the police department has to benefit from doing something like this? Our police department would never engage in that, yes the GSU have been out there actively to deal with the gang situation and they are the ones who are our front line police officers who are engaging the criminals. Its common sense that these people will want to look at the GSU as being the primary focus where they feel the GSU may have committed this thing. The GSU without a doubt I am telling you have not engage in any acts such as these and I want that to be made very clear."

As mentioned in yesterday's newscast - the 4 postmortem examinations on these George Street men, were conducted yesterday at the KHMH morgue -between the hours of 7:55 yesterday morning to 5:50 yesterday evening.
