Man Acquitted Of Rape; Victim Refuses To Testify

Moving now to court news….alleged rapist 41 year-old Carlos Matura, was able to go home free today after the victim requested no further action. The victim reported that in January 2012, she was inside her home, when Matura allegedly forced his way into hr home. She said that he threatened her, and raped her at knife-point. According to her, she woke up the next morning, and found the accused lying down beside her, and as soon as he left, she ran to a neighbor for help.

His trial started today, but when Crown Counsel Leroy Banner called her as his second witness, she asked that she be excused from the witness stand. When she was asked why she didn't want to continue testifying, she told the court that she wanted no further court action, but she did reiterate that he was the person who raped her.

With this new development, Justice Gonzalez was forced to direct the jury of 9 to return a verdict of not-guilty, based on the lack of evidence.

Matura was allowed to leave court a free man after a 20-minute trial.
