Today the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela held a luncheon at the Biltmore Plaza to pay homage to those who have contributed their efforts to its Mission Miracle Program. Mission Miracle is a social humanitarian program that was designed by the Governments of Venezuela and Cuba in 2004 -to attend free of charge to low income population who are facing health visual problems. The program was implemented in Belize in 2010 and since then over four thousand Belizeans have benefited.

"Basically what we did today is the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela wanted to pay a little homage to all those people who made an effort or who have contributed to Mission Miracle. Mission Miracle is a social and humanitarian program implemented here in Belize in 2010 to help Belizean people with surgical intervention to get eye surgeries. With this homage we wanted to show a little bit of presentation with the figures if three years that we have been working in Belize. What we did was presented certificates to all people who have involve in Mission Miracle to put this all together to get more people to go to Venezuela and also the Mayors because without the Mayors it would be almost impossible to do it. We have the best connection with the Belizean people - the community that are related to Mission Miracle."
"We just wanted to show an appreciation of that and also the figures; we just wanted to show how many people have been incorporated; how many females have travelled to Venezuela; how many patience. We have more than 4,000 patients. We've had so far selected patients to go to Venezuela more than 1,300 patients. We have operated on 709 patients. We have given the opportunity to the Belizean people to recover their sight."
Certificates of appreciation and plaques were handed out at this morning's event to the Mayors from each districts and Coordinators who continuously support the program.
