Shot At Cops, But Walks Out Of Court Free
posted (March 6, 2013)
Viewers may remember 20 year-old Stephen Anderson. He allegedly robbed a businessman, and shot at responding police, but tonight he is free after walking out of Magistrate's Court this morning.

As we reported, police said that at around 7 p.m. on April 2, 2012 he robbed a businessman at gunpoint of his red motorcycle. Police officers were on patrol, and they activated to intercept Anderson on Evergreen Street. That's when he allegedly pulled out a gun and fired 2 shots at the police mobile, hitting the front bumper and radiator. He was then apprehended on Hondo Street, where the officers allegedly recovered a .38 pistol from him, which contained 2 expended shells, and a live round.

He was then charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, robbery, keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition. Since then, he has been brought back and forth from prison to Magistrate's Court, and today his matter was called up once again before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith.

And while you might think that, shooting at police would be a lock for a sure fire conviction…but you would be wrong.

Today the prosecution sheepishly informed the court that they had no case file to proceed. No explanation was given and Chief Magistrate Smith struck out the matter, and dismissed all the charges against Anderson for want of prosecution. He left the court a free man.
