Vega To Venezuela, Saldivar Is PM
posted (March 7, 2013)
The funeral for Hugo Chavez will be held tomorrow in Caracas, Venezuela and Belize will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister, Gaspar Vega. He will lead a delegation comprising CEO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexis Rosado and Nestor Mendez, Belize's Ambassador to Washington and the OAS. They left today to return on Sunday. In the interim, John Saldivar is holding over as Acting Prime Minister. That is of note, because, in the past, when both PM Barrow and Deputy Vega were out of the country, the hold over post would go to Patrick Faber.

But since losing his seat in the party executive with a failed bid for Deputy, it seems he his standing in executive has also suffered for it.

Vega will join heads of state and government and senior officials from all over the world including the United States.

They will rub shoulders with anti-US leaders such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Cuba's Raul Castro and leftist Latin American leaders such as Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez, Bolivia's President Evo Morales and Uruguay's President Jose Muhica - all seen as dsiciples of Chavez's socialist leadership.
Epic crowds have gathered to see his coffin lying in state at the Military Academy.
