Fortunes are turning around in the sugar industry as production is up and the company has declared a dividend. BSI held an annual general meeting on Tuesday where the shareholders declared a 3 million dollar dividend payment for those groups that had shares in the company before ASR bought controlling interests in October 2012.
The dividend is approximately $0.068 cents per each of the 44 million issued shares before ASR's investment, so the BSI's Employee Holdings will receive 81% of the 3 million dollars dividend or $2.4 million dollars.
Those moneys will be disbursed on March 14th and the Employee's Trust will then distribute it to its membership on Thursday, March 21st.
