A Hattieville Home Invasion
posted (March 18, 2013)
A Hattieville family is tonight trying to recover from a frightening home invasion that happened early Sunday morning. According to Audrey Reyes, around 5:30am on Sunday morning while her entire family was still asleep, an intruder entered her home through one of her windows.

The man made his way to her bedroom where she came face to face with him. The intruder pointed an object at her and demanded that she keep quiet - while he left off with her handbag. Today 7news travelled to Hattieville where Reyes gave us an account of her horrifying experience.

Voice Of: Audrey Reyes - Home Invasion Victim
"Well they were to go ride a race for women's month, in the group that we're in. I laid down in my bed, pull my phone and checked the time. I saw it was like after 5, a quarter pass 5 or something like that and I sat down my phone on the bed on my purse and I laid down back. So when I laid down back, a little bit after I felt something heavy over me, but I know that my child likes to come in my room and get my purse and if he wants anything out of it. he will say 'ma, I'm getting something out of your purse.' Well, that never happened, and when I felt this heaviness over me, I turned and the same time the hand was over me, he already had the purse in his hand. When I saw that I turned around, and when I turned it was straight into him, he said "don't say anything because you will get hurt.' I said that I don't have anything to say, but the reason why I didn't react was because I have my kids, my 2 grand babies and my niece and nephew, so I didn't say anything. Then I got up, when I got up I came out here and the first thing I went to check was to see TV and the radio, when I came out the radio was there disconnected. So, at that time, I didn't tel them anything. I peeped through this window, and drew my curtain. When I peeped through my window I saw someone going that way with my bag in this hand, and still didn't way anything. I went and check this door, so I turned the knob and the door opened. So, right away I started to wonder if the girls had locked this door, I went and called Deshawn. I said,"Did you locked up this door?" He said "yes ma'am, we locked the door." I said well, somebody just robbed me, somebody just held me up in my room. He said, "Mom, nobody can't do that because we locked up the house.' I got up her and I, went in my child rooms, she is fast asleep. I knocked on the door, she said "mom, what happened?" I said, "Somebody just held me up in my room and went with my purse. She said but mom we locked up the door. I asked if She was sure and she said, Yes mom, we locked up the door." The 3 of us came out here, we started to search around to see if we lose anything, she went to the window, as I told you, she saw the curtain blowing and she moved the curtain and said, "mom, see, this what they came through, they removed 3 of the blinds and that's where they came through."

And Audrey Reyes was not the only victim of a home invasion in Hattieville. Another family reported to police that around 2am on that same morning, someone entered their home by removing two of their window louvers.

After the intruder was inside the house, he stole a purse which was later found emptied outside in the yard. 40 dollars was stolen out of the purse.

The family believes that they were sprayed with some type of chemical which made them sleep through the entire burglary.
