Trini's Soca Boys In Belize
posted (March 19, 2013)
As we told you earlier in the newscast, Belize's National Football Selection is hosting the Soca Boys of Trinidad and Tobago in an international friendly on Saturday at the MCC Grounds.

The Soca Boys made it to the world cup in 2006 - and now they are going to the Gold Cup along with Belize.

It's a team that is rebuilding and reloading to make another World Cup Run and we spoke with the Captain and the Coach when they arrived today:

Hutson Charles - Coach, "Soca Warriors"
"You know, Belize is a young improving team on the upcoming tournaments, and we expect to get a good fight from them. Seeing that they're home, we see it fit to play a game at this meet here, so as to enhance our preparation for the goal cup."

Denzil Theobald - Captain, "Soca Warriors"
"Every game we go to represent our country, we go to win and it's a part of preparations for the Gold Cup, which is the ideal goal we have in mind, to go there and do well. We have some players from England, we have some players from the MLS; we also have players from other parts of Europe as well, joining together with the base goal, from Trinidad and Tobago that plays in the professional league of Trinidad."

Jules Vasquez
"I know Belize is in a transitional stage because we lost our national team coach, we're in a stage of transition; we're finding our style. Where are you all now in terms of the team's development and personality?"

Hutson Charles
"Well, actually just like Belize, we still try take our foot into right arm. I think we have some young guys. What we're trying to do is blend them in with the more experience guys."

Denzil Theobald
"It's just to get Trinidad football back to where it was once, and all games - friendly games is in part of preparation in achieving that goal, but the main goal is to go at the Gold Cup and do well, like you said; help us put Trinidad back on the map in terms of where it was once before."
