Police Make Minor Gill Street Bust, Roy Bennett Has A Major Problem with It
posted (May 20, 2013)
And also on Gill Street on Saturday, police made an arrest at the Felix Yard, which has been a target of both law enforcement and criminals. This time it was the police who found 24 grams of marijuana. That's less than an ounce, but it was enough for them to detain brothers Ryan Cash Felix and Roy Bennett for the entire weekend. They were released this morning after appearing in court and Roy Bennett told us he is tired of police harassment.

Voice of Roy Bennett - Complains of Police Harassment
"I was at home watching TV and I'm tired of being disturbed by the Gang Suppression. I want them to know and I'm sending them a message because they treat us like we are the biggest criminal when they are the biggest criminal and they know what is going on in the streets. Saturday they came into my yard and nearly shot my dog and took me to the station concerning a shooting that I didn't know about. Now they charged me for weed and instead of them bringing my charge sheet so that I can get bail and go home instead they left me at the station and when people were bringing food for me they didn't give it to me. They still have my phone and they are texting from my phone and I don't know what they are doing. I just want them to know that they know what they are dealing with. I am tired of them harassing me. I wasn't resisting arrest, I was sitting down in my house. Instead of them investigating what they should they are coming around here for information and no information is around here. I am tired of the harassment and I want them to stop it ."

"So you were released this morning?"

Voice of Roy Bennett
"Yes I went to court for 0.8 grams of weed, little bit of weed - nothing."

And now to the court details: 25 year-old Roy Bennett was charged jointly along with 27 year-old Ryan Felix, 23 year-old Alva Moody, and 27 year-old Kimberly Ciego for possession of controlled drugs.

The Gang Suppression Unit conducted a search at #6 Gill Street on Saturday at around 11:45 a.m. for illegal weapons ammunition, and to execute a commitment warrant against Ryan Felix. The officers searched the house and found a box near the backdoor which contained 25 grams of cannabis.

The also charged Bennett with an additional count of possession of controlled drugs because the officers reportedly found less than 1 ounce of marijuana inside his room.

He pleaded guilty to both counts when they were arraigned today before Magistrate Dale Cayetano, who sentenced him to pay fines to a total of $700 by August 31. If he defaults in payment, he will serve 6 months in prison.
