Another well-known Belize City woman was carjacked last night. Less than an hour after Ann-Marie Williams's car-jacking made the news – Jackie Roe, the manager of Hofius was car-jacked.
It happened at around 7:15, as Roe was leaving the parking lot of the Great House on Cork Street. Reports are that she was with family and about to get out of her 2012 Toyota Hilux when two men dressed in dark clothing strode up. One of them put a knife to her side and demanded her keys and phone. She handed them over, and they both jumped into her vehicle and sped off.
The crime is notable for its brazen-ness, but also for the area where it happened; it's in the shadow of the Radisson complex and there are a number of security guards around at all times between the Radisson and the Great House.
Today, Roe declined comment and the vehicle has not turned up.
