Landy Burns Rejects McAfee Claim
posted (May 21, 2013)
As we told you last week, John McAfee's estate at the Tower Hill Bridge in Orange Walk burned down – reportedly when a forest fire got out of control. The houses were up for sale. But in the weird and wacky world of Mcaffee – there are no accidents – and this event has given him another international platform to air his conspiracy theories. The Mail Online, a British newspaper states that, quote, "McAfee said that he has a private investigator working on the case who could prove that Landy Burns, the political representative for the town of Orange Walk East, was behind the fire." Now Burns is only a divisional care-taker for the UDP, not a representative, and today he called us to say that the suggestion is ludicrous.

Jules Vasquez
"I've read in a number of international newspapers that John McAfee says that he has hired an international investigator and he expects that this person will investigate his house. He's saying that he believes that the arson investigation done by his Private Investigator will turn it to your name because he says you're behind what he thinks is an arson of his home in Tower Hill bridge."

Landy Burns - Says he didn't burn down McAfee's house
"It's totally ludicrous, I am going to take this matter to the highest court if I have to sell all I own. My name doesn't have a price, my reputation I am going to defend it to the very end. This man is totally out of his lockers and I am going to defend my reputation. I have never met the man before in my life, I have never spoken to him, I have never solicit anything from him and this is coming from a long time he's been throwing innuendos when he was here in Belize. But now that he's away now he's calling my name. He's just a coward and I'm going to see him the day in court when my name is cleared."

Jules Vasquez
"I want to be clear. He has alluded before that some local politician in Orange Walk tried to solicit a campaign contribution from him and when this failed it is when his troubles started. Did you ever solicit directly or through an intermediary campaign contributions from Mr. McAfee?"

Landy Burns
"Never, never ever! That is totally made up it is a malicious intentional attempt of trying to malign my reputation."

Jules Vasquez
"But you will agree from time to time, politicians who need a lot of friends to run their campaigns will seek out wealthy international investors for a campaign contribution, there's no crime in it."

Landy Burns
"No crime but it's not my style - not Landy Burns."

The houses that burnt were valued at half a million dollars combined. McAfee says on his blog that he had a buyer and was about to close a deal.
