He's been reinstated as Minister of State and he's back in his political clinic. But some say, Party Leader Barrow might want to replace him. Yesterday, King told us he's ready for all challengers UDP and PUP:

Hon. Mark King - Area Representative, Lake Independence
"It is unfortunate that I had that little incident that had mentioned about, and we're now back in the division as per the normal course. Now that I am back, we are very strong, and as you can see there is a lot of people out there to see me."

Jules Vasquez
"The old saying is, and the UDP was to some extent elected on this, 'take their money, and then vote them out.' How do you make sure that these people will support you on Election Day?"

Hon. Mark King
"Well, there are 2 things to that Jules. First of all, I am the Area Representative, and to a large extent, it doesn't matter if people are fooling you or not, you have to represent the people who voted for you, who supported you. The elections are over, so now, they are a part of this community."

Jules Vasquez
"However, you wouldn't have won if they didn't have a 3-way race and Carlos Dias didn't run. You won because of a very freakish series of events. Cordel Hyde stepped down with a month to go before the elections, and then the PUP, their candidate couldn't run."

Hon. Mark King
"That can't be denied, but a win is a win. And at the end of the day, in elections, you must have luck, and you know that nobody have more luck than I do. It wasn't only luck which won the elections, but it was a lot of strategy and hard work."

Jules Vasquez
"There are multiple reports that Cordel Hyde will be running in the Lake Independence Division for PUP, that they are considering bringing him back. Are you concern that his report would signal the end for you in Lake Independence?"

Hon. Mark King
"Actually, it's really and truly the opposite, Jules. Actually, I believe that Cordel Hyde being back in this division is my best chance of winning the general elections. And you would definitely question that; I will not explain to you my strategy here today, but what I can say is that Cordel Hyde is seen as a traitor to his party in many ways. He's seen as a traitor to many of the PUP's in here, and he has other factors against him, for example, I was caught up in a little casino thing, but I was never the one who had the rumor over me that I was giving away the vouchers to school children and so forth. So, he has his own decays, but at the end of the day, honestly, after we've done our strategy with our committee and everything, Cordel Hyde is my best bet if he runs, of me ever winning Lake I again. We believe that we are that strong in Lake I right now."

"Are you concerned that the party may encourage someone to challenge you at the convention?"

Hon. Mark King
"That is all a part of our democratic principle. As far as I am concerned, I am the Area Rep., I am doing my job. The party can bring who they want, when they want. The PUP can bring who they want, when they want. When they come, it is for them to face me. As a matter of fact, I am looking out because they have to prepare themselves to face me, and I am no easy boxer. You know that yourself."
