Cabinet secretary Bobby Leslie today told us that the Prime Minister will not
name an island after the Italian Premier Sylvio Berlusoni. Leslie was responding
to reports from an Italian magazine which said that in a recent official visit,
the Prime Minister had told the Premier that he would re-name Black Bird Caye
in his honour, calling it Silvio Bay. The Cabinet Secretary told us that he
and the PM chuckled at the foreign report, but stressed that no such undertaking
was given. So how did the Italian press come up with it? Leslie said its pure
fiction, paparazzi style, but the fact of the matter is that Blackbird is a
private caye and it is for sale.
