GSU Makes Plentiful Busts In The West
posted (September 16, 2013)
Between Thursday and Saturday, the Gang Suppression Unit conducted operations in Central Belize, and their efforts led the arrest of 9 persons in relation to drugs and firearm offences.

Just before 10 on Thursday morning, GSU searched the house belonging to 37 year-old Eddy Rowland of the Another World Area in Roaring Creek. The officers found him digging up the ground in his back yard, and this led the officers to search the location.

They found a small glass bottle which contained 25 small pieces of crack cocaine to a total weight of 1.6 grams. Rowland was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.

During the same operation in the village between 3 and 6 that evening, GSU searched a bushy area in an area known as "Hattieville". They found 2 black plastic bags to a total of 1.8 kilos - about four pounds of cannabis, and since it was found on Government lands with no one in the area, the weed was deposited as found property.

On Friday just before none, GSU officers searched the house of 37 year-old Flavio Sandoval, located on Cayo Street in Belmopan City. They found 1.23 ounces of cannabis on his kitchen table, and he was arrested and charged with drug possession. GSU says that he is a reputed drug peddler.

On the very same day, between 1:30 and 6 that same evening, GSU conducted a sting operation which led them to #81 Eve Street, New Area in Santa Elena. They found 28 year-old Victor Spain, 32 year-old Rafael Perez, 31 year-old Jason Gabourel, 32 year old Derrick Bradley, 19 year-old Luis Chata, and 19 year-old Gian Earl Trapp all at the Eve Street house.

The officers found 3.05 pounds of marijuana on a computer table in the living room. On the living room floor and the kitchen area the officers found an additional 0.77 ounces of marijuana. Inside the kitchen cabinet, the officer found 1.277 kilos - or two and a half pounds of a powdery substance.

All 6 men were arrested and charged with 1 count of drug trafficking and 3 counts of drug possession. Following the forensic testing on the powdery substance, additional charges may be brought against the men.

The officers then searched an open lot behind the property, led the officers to find 3 parcels containing a total of 2.89 pounds of marijuana. The officers suspected that this is part of the stash found inside the house, but because it was found on a separate property, the men weren't charged for it, and the drugs were deposited as found property.

On Saturday morning, GSU searched a Roaring Creek house belonging to Reginald "Mana" Ruiz. Nothing was found there, but he reportedly led the officers to another location, where they found black 9mm pistol which loaded with 6 live rounds of ammunition. As a result, he was arrested and charged with keeping and unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition.

Finally, on Sunday, GSU resumed operations in Belize City, where conducted a raid at #9851 Gibson Street off Fabers Road. Inside the house, they found the resident, 24 year-old Calbert Young, and 4 separate parcels containing a total of just over 56 pounds of cannabis, along with a digital scale. As a result, he was charged with 4 counts of drug trafficking.
