Did Basilio Abduct His Own Baby?
posted (September 18, 2013)
Tonight, Guatemalan Police continue to keep on file a missing persons report in which former VIP Candidate Basilio Mes is being accused of abducting his baby from her mother over in Guatemala and returning to Belize.

As seen in this flier, the child's mother reported that Mes, showed up at her Guatemala City home and took the baby without her permission. The infant, 9 month old Izabella Lariza Mes Suchini, is a child which Mes shared with the woman, Mariana Suchini, who made the report against him.

She told police that the child has been missing September 10, and that's when the police issued the notice on all community boards so that they can be on the look-out. She's also been reaching out to the different media houses, including our news room, requesting that the matter be broadcast to the public.

But, it would seem Mes is giving a different version of events, in which he is categorically denying all claims that he abducted his daughter and brought her to Belize to hide.

7News spoke to him this evening, and he told us that nothing of the sort happened, and according to him, he left with his daughter last week because the child's grandmother threatened him. Mes told us that he was living with Suchini in the house, and sometime last week, the grandmother began to quarrel with him, continuing a long-standing feud.

At the end, Mes decided that it was best to leave the house, and so he took his daughter with him. Mes added that he made the decision because as of today, his baby hadn't gotten all the important vaccinations she needs.

Speaking to the allegation against him, he told us that he has reason to believe that the grandmother is forcing the mother of his child to make the malicious complaints against him. He added that he has contacted Belize Police to inform them of the situation, and to explain why he made his decision to bring his daughter to Belize. He concluded by saying that he will reach out to Guatemalan police to clear up this situation.
