posted (September 23, 2013)
You may not know the name Erron Golanche, but you may have seen him in the TV ad about SMART Prepaid Roaming in Mexico, or you may have seen his work on countless advertisements. The 25 year old Golanche was a media multi-tasker, he could shoot, edit and do graphic design.

But late on Friday night, he was killed in a hit and run accident. It happened in Orange Walk when he was riding on his motorcycle. His mother explained the circumstances:

Jerrilyn Flowers, Mother of Erron Golanche
"Eyewitnesses state that they saw the white pickup coming and swerving across the street. The ladies that were in the minivan in front of the driver pull to the side of the street to let him passed, but instead of him passing he swerve from his lane directly into Erron's lane hitting Erron. Erron died on the spot. The driver continue driving"

"When I went to the scene, you could see where he took the motorcycle from left to right to about 4 blocks from the site and then parked the pickup and then jumped out and left. The police up to today I called and they say they still haven't found him. All I know that he is a Salvadoran National. It's a white Chevy. It's an old vehicle, so you know the body is hard. The force that he hit my son with - the bonnet flew up and bent in all sorts of shapes. The cycle was a new cycle and all that we can get use of is maybe the seat - nothing else you could identify on the cycle."

Now, 25 year old Golanche who was well known and liked in the media is remembered for his prodigious talent:

Jerrilyn Flowers, Mother of Erron Golanche
"When he was smaller we use to call him "mad scientist" because from he was 8 - 10 years old, he would take apart computers and assembly them back."

Yasser Musa, taught Erron
"He was able to educate himself, which is the greatest gift anyone can be given. There was no complexity in terms of how he viewed the world. He could be very precise in the way he spoke and he had this magical coherence; visual coherence - this clarity of ideas that came quickly and naturally, so you would be able to discuss an idea with him and he would be able to solve it visually immediately."

Gilvano Swasey
"Someone who I admired being young, black in a challenging environment and be very productive still and seeing hope and being driven."

"He did use some of his traditional skills with us working on a book called "Jazz Sketches" that Yasser was helping compile with Mrs. Dolores Balderamos Garcia. Erron at that time did some amazing sketches of the classic Jazz; Miles Davis and so forth. It was a hit. He would so good that he produce commercials and appeared in them. He had a unique voice, a unique sense of timing. It is hard to be saying this when he is passed away. We've talked and I am sure he knew that we've appreciated him. We lost some really good talent in Erron's skills."

Yasser Musa
"He represents the best in his generation. He represents the hope of what every generation needs in terms of strong artistic input."

Jerrilyn Flowers, Mother of Erron
"I know that he was loved by many and his being gone I know that he will be missed by many."

Golanche was with his fiancée's younger brother who was also injured in the accident.

Police know the name of the driver as Freddy Villar - but they have not found him yet.
