As we told you the National Environmental Appraisal Committee met 2 weeks ago to review the projects, and they found 2 issues which they looked at more closely: those being the fuel lighters which was proposed to use to refuel cruise ships, and the impact on the Swallow Caye Wildlife Sanctuary which the building of a mega-causeway.

Stake Bank Island, located 4 nautical miles south east of Belize City, is proposed as a cruise ship port and an entertainment centre for cruise ship passengers and crew members.

The second project, on North Drowned Caye, will be a resort community called Ocean View Grand - which is also proposed to have duty free shopping.
