Cholera coming From Mexico?

But what has been detected is cholera in Hidalgo Mexico. That has triggered an immediate response in Belize - particularly in the Corozal Free zone - according to Manzanero. He explained:

"There is an outbreak in Hidalgo. The report that we got this morning say 46 confirm cases, 2 now in Mexico City, 1 death associated with Cholera. Just yesterday we met to look at the treatment and we are going to be looking at the treatment for Belize and socializing that with the healthcare workers."

"There are 2 officers in Corozal today who will also be looking at the Free Zone trying to set up the alert systems as a potential entry point because people come into the Free Zone. We have touch base with the Central Medical Lab to see if we have the kits to make the diagnosis in the country and she has confirm that we have. I just got confirmation that we also have the anti-biotic that is recommended when an anti-biotic is required for cholera cases."

"I don't know if we are ever prepare for cholera but we are setting up the alert mechanisms to ensure that we don't have for when there is any potential case, that its treated the way it supposed to be treated."
